Self-Accompaniment for Singers Live Online Pilot Workshops

Are you a singer who has dreamed of accompanying yourself at the piano while you sing? These special online learning opportunities are for you! Great for all ages 8-to-adult.

Simply Music Piano LogoThe Simply Music Piano method has students of all ages playing great-sounding contemporary, classical, gospel, blues and accompaniment pieces — immediately — from their very first lessons. Simply Music has recently released a workshop based on its revolutionary Accompaniment Program, ideal for singers like you. Learn an array of contemporary chords as well as rhythmic variations that you’ll be able to apply to any lead sheet, fake book or chord chart. You’ll be making music in no time — even if you’ve never learned to play an instrument before, and even if you don’t own an instrument!

I hold Master Simply Music Teacher status, am New York State’s most experienced teacher of this remarkable method, and I have been teaching online lessons for over 11 years. Learn more about me at the Who’s Who page.

In this time of social distancing, I am piloting two differently formatted opportunities to do this workshop with me, live online via Zoom videoconferencing. The regular price for these workshops in the future is likely to be at least twice as much, but for these pilot opportunities you’ll pay just $49.00 to participate! To register and prepare for your workshop:

  3. Purchase the Ensemble Accompaniment Workshop digital materials at the Simply Music Student Intranet Store.
    • Materials cost is $10.00.
    • Upon creating your Simply Music Student Intranet account and purchasing your materials, link your account to me as your teacher — visit this page and follow the instructions, entering my teacher ID which is 80.
    • If you do not have a piano or electronic keyboard, visit the Curriculum page, find and open the “Practice Pad” link, and follow the instructions to craft your own paper Practice Pad.
    • Whether you will be using an instrument or a Practice Pad, either way you will visit the Curriculum page to access your Ensemble Accompaniment Workshop materials. You may print out the Reference Book or use it exclusively on your computer/tablet/smartphone. Note that you will want to be able to write notes about one particular page — the “Triads” page. You can print the page, use a blank piece of paper, or electronically annotate the PDF on your device using an appropriate application.
  4. Visit my Online Lessons FAQ and refer to the following three questions to get yourself set up in advance for our live online workshop — feel free to use one of the simpler camera setups mentioned! The three questions/sections are: What do I need to set myself up for online lessons? How can I best set everything up for videoconference piano lessons? What videoconference service would I use?
  5. Await an email from me prior to our first workshops session. I’ll provide you with the information to join our Zoom meetings and some supplementary print material — again, you may print it out or use it on your device, whatever you prefer.

Looking forward to seeing you in the workshop!
